The news had spread like a stink cloud over the land, and the imps were not happy about the stand Makai had taken against their little invasion. So, a huge group of imps had gathered just outside the Tokala village wielding nasty, wicked weapons. They soon decided to unify their troops and made a mad dash for the Kitsune Village, intent on destroying everything in sight.
"Grrhhyaahhhh!!" Their warcry could be heard coming closer, and closer to it's borders.

A team of border patrol promptly reported the invasion to their kitsune leader. Kei was infuriated by the news, as was inidicated by the dark, purple aura that enveloped his tall frame as he swept through the village to see to their defenses. Casters, soldiers and healers were divided amongst the various entrances to the village with adventurers serving as military support. The civilians were ordered to report to Kei's dwelling, upon which they would follow an appointed guide underground for shelter. The demon fox himself would be leading another group of selected forces to the main gate. Before heading off however, he sent along a messenger to track down Naiomi. She was to meet him at the main gate where her healing abilities would be needed.

Naiomi indeed met him at the front gate, beating even the messenger back. As she rushed up, a small pouch became visible upon her neck. She'd been busier then sin trying to establish a back of healing items and seemingly had brought a few with her. Immediately she dropped to her belly, ears back in submission, the little fox had already begun to grow her second and third tail it seemed. Though thinner, they were full length now and the same silky smooth look as her main tail.
" Naiomi Mika, reporting for healing duties!"

The corner of his mouth turned up slightly, a brief indication of his amusement as Naiomi came bounding into view. As quickly as it formed, it soon faded and he turned his gaze to the horizon. As the first group of imps began to appear Kei lifted his hand to summon forth the portal which safeguarded his sword, Betrayal. Gloved digits wrapped around the hilt of the blade and pulled it free from within the confines of the portal. A sidelong glance was given to the apprentice healer.
"Don't follow me. Stay near the others and keep an eye on their health. Avoid combat. You're job here is to heal and minimize our loss."
With that said he broke off from the rest of the group and started to advance towards the imps. The aura around him fluctuated menacingly and then grew darker in appearance. The kitsune clan leader was not about to let even a single imp escape his wrath.

Someone obviously never taught Kei how to make friends.
They did however show him how to command his people. Tucking in behind the second line, Kei being the entirety of the first, she waited. The pouch was slipped from her neck to lie at her feet and nudged open, small vials dropping from it.
If only he wore a collar. Ah well, in time she may convince him it could be a good idea. It was a great place to hide little things like potions and healing spells for a pinch.
Those forest green eyes wide, she observed the imps coming over the rise with only a small retch rising from the little vixens throat.
Gawd they smelled awful!

Kei had been taught plenty of things in his life --- among which friendship, compassion, kindness and any other emotion he deemed useless have long since been buried. People betray people. That was the last life lesson he learned, and one that he would not be forgetting anytime soon. He paused when he was a good distance away from the main gate and extended his free hand to the sky. Currents of electricity wrapped around his arm, sparks discharging with a sound that rivaled the chirping of a thousand birds. His expression remained passive and calm as the first group of imps charged towards him. At his silent command the sparks jumped to life and created a chain lightning effect as they struck the imps down one after another. In just a mere few seconds all that was left of the first group was the smell of burnt flesh. The next group of imps wisely skirted around the kitsune leader and rushed towards the line of defense at the gate which consisted mainly of soldiers, a few casters and of course Naiomi.

Naiomi watched in wonder as he quite literally took the first group by storm. She'd just recovered her brain in her head as the second group bum rushed them dead on. The soldiers took the brunt of it and with help of flinging spells and chanting words made quite, yet messy work of the group. Thankfully they seemed to be coming in waves.
Slender red body streaked from the casters, moving up to the front lines. With every little darting stride that fine mist of green had begun to overtake her and as she skittered up to the first solider who'd bowed his head to lick at a wound upon his thigh. She tucked her body in snug against his legs, much to his surprise.
The seafoam green tendrils moved from her body to his own, slowly wrapping his thigh, mending flesh. As they recoiled back to her he was left with nearly flawless pelt where the gash had been. From there she moved on, working her way slowly down the line to the few that had been hit by lucky shots.

The first wave of imps had rushed in blindly, and were easily struck down with Kei's expert skills. However, the second and third waves wouldn't be so clear cut. The imps liked to swarm their opponents and overwhelm when they believed they could win by numbers but not sheer force.
And so the second wave in front of Kei was in a C formation with Kei at it's epicenter and each end of imp ranks closing in to hug their main military forces in a unified straightforward attack. This closed in both the kitsune and their soldiers, clubs and wicked jagged swords slicing through them madly.
Naiomi wasn't left out in the attack, as she was darting around healing the wounded a particularly nasty imp caught her with her back turned and began his menacing approach with an ugly grin on his deformed face. The bloodstained club rared back to bear down on the kitsune and bludgeon her into a furry pulp, if he was successful.
But was he?

Whump! The Imp found an arrow in his chest, quickly followed by a second as the other soldiers fought on around them. One of the archers had wound back and buried two arrows fully through the little Imp’s chest.
Thankfully Naiomi heard the screech behind her and was able to get out of the way as the club came down, that fine green mist dissipating quickly from her side. With a snap to the Imp’s wrist she was off and bounding back towards the rear where her healing pouch was gathered.
So far... so good.

The imps fought for what seemed like forever, time having no affect on them whatsoever. Tokala Village still remained untouched due to the efforts of the clan rising up against this threat. Clubs and vicious weapons swung even down to the last imp holding his stance, brandishing his weapon against the Clan Leader foolishly in attempt to engage in a power struggle.
Several straggling imps had a few brain cells enough to tell them retreat was the smarter option and fled, however the last few remained to stand against the soldiers, Naiomi, and of course the one facing off with Kei. If these few could be thwarted the threat for Tokala Village would be laid to rest.
For now.

The little fox was no fighter. That was MORE then obvious. Still, when the threat became minimal with the ones left standing, she began handing out vials to those who were injured. Simply swallowing the contents was a healing in itself similar to her own. Actually, it was her own natural healing, just in swirling green vial form. A few had a bit of herbal supplement, those handed out when the men were in a great deal of pain. Thankfully it seemed the Inari did very well through these few rounds of invaders.
With ears back Naiomi found a particularly small Imp to face off with herself. Those eyes closed and she gave this awful shrill howl. It took a moment, long enough for the Imp to get bold and step closer to her. From above, zigzagging between the tree's came a bolt of green energy. It snaked down, striking the Imp, scent of burning flesh rising. Similar to Kei's own much larger storm strike, only not nearly as dazzling to see.
It took a lot out of her however. She was not one to use so much energy, so fast and she wobbled on all four paws until her rump hit the earth, tri tails swaying behind her.
That was eventful.

The kitsune leader easily held his own against the attacking imps, barely using any effort as he cut through them one after another. At some point he shifted to avoid tainting his blade with too much imp filth. Unlike the previous times when he had shifted into his demon fox form Kei saw no reason to hold back against his enemies. Even when he squared off against Akito that time at the temple he had refrained from reaching his full size in consideration of the monks who lived there. Now, however, the fox that stood in his place could easily tower over the village. Sleek, ebon pelt was set ablaze with flames of matching color. Massive paw lifted to swat aside the lone imp that remained before him. So much for that power struggle.
Crimson hues turned to survey the rest of the battlefield, the tip of his ears flicking in annoyance at the retreating imps. The black flames bursted forth from his body, moving like a shockwave towards the imps and leaving a trail of destruction in it's wake. Kei did not stick around to count the bodies. Instead he was making his way back to the rest of their forces. As he approached them he shifted down to a more normal size. Normal for him anyway, but still considered large to most.
"What's the status here? Any casualties?"

Really she should have been frightened when Kei sized himself up like that. Got big enough that the little fox would be nothing more then a red smudge between his claws should he choose to step on her, but she'd been preoccupied As he approached and called for status he'd get a quick, quiet reply.
~ Four down. Only one urgent, working him right now. ~ Indeed the injured Inari had gotten into more then a handful of skirmishes today. A crude spear stuck from just above his hip, trickling blood to the ground where Naiomi had forced him to lay down. Moving close, she carefully curled her body by his hip, those tails laying up and over him on either side of the spear as she closed her eyes.
The mist began to form around her head, crawling languidly down her body. When it reached her tails it got thick and heavy, turning a darker green in color. Without having to move, the spear began to shift until it fell to the ground whole. She did not move however, knowing quite well that it would take some long moments in her weakened state to truly heal up the wounds left behind.
